Pay As You Go with OUC Power Pass

OUC Power Pass is a prepaid program that allows you to pay-as-you-go for utility services. Instead of getting a monthly bill, you can check your electric usage every day and add funds as you need. And, there are never reconnection or late fees for participants. For a limited time, the first month customer charge for new enrollments is waived and current deposits can be applied to existing account balances. Learn more here.

Residential Payment Assistance Through Project CARE

Project CARE helps provide emergency assistance to those in our community who have experienced a recent personal or family crisis that has placed them in danger of losing their utility service. To help during the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve donated an additional $2.6 million to the program. OUC customers who need assistance should contact United Way 2-1-1. United Way will then help the customer locate an agency near their home so that eligibility and need can be determined. Under the program, a household can receive a maximum benefit of $500 in a one-year period.

Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

Emergency Home Energy Assistance for the Elderly Program (EHEAP)

The Emergency Home Energy Assistance for the Elderly Program (EHEAP) helps eligible seniors pay energy bills in an emergency. The program is 100% federally funded through a grant by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and was created in partnership with the Department of Elder Affairs, Senior Resource Alliance and its partner agencies. EHEAP-eligible residents can receive up to $2,000 for multiple energy bills while funds are available.  

To qualify for EHEAP, applicants must be age 60 or older and reside in a home located in Orange, Seminole, Osceola or Brevard counties. The energy bill does not need to be in the elder’s name to qualify, but the elder will need to provide proof of residence, such as a driver’s license or other identification. The applicant must also meet income requirements and be experiencing a home energy crisis, such as disconnection, delinquency or past due bills.

How OUC is Helping

In April, OUC announced a $12.5 million customer relief package to help our community through the COVID-19 pandemic. The package includes:

  • Suspending disconnections for nonpayment and waiving late payment fees until further notice.
  • Lowering electric fuel rates for May bills by 39%, representing a 11.4% overall decrease for residential customers and 11.2% to 19.7% reduction for commercial customers.
  • Contributing $2.6 million to Project CARE, in partnership with the City of Orlando, OUC’s utility assistance program for qualified residential customers, which includes an allocation up to $100,000 as a 2 for 1 match of customer donations to Project CARE.
  • Allocating $500,000 to be used to waive the first monthly customer charge for new customers enrolling in OUC’s Power Pass program, which allows customers to prepay for utility services.
