Utility Encourages Customers to Register for Alerts, Reminds Everyone of Storm Safety

ORLANDO, Fla. – OUC is preparing for Tropical Storm Idalia and our crews are ready to respond to any potential impacts to our service area. While we track the storm’s path, it’s likely to intensify and be upgraded to hurricane status later today by the National Hurricane Center as it enters the Gulf of Mexico.

At this time, we urge our customers to prepare now in the following ways:

• Update your contact information. Customers should log in to their my.OUC.com account to make sure their contact information is current.
• Sign up for outage alerts. Customer can receive power restoration updates via text message. To sign up, text REG to 69682 or visit OUC.com/alerts. Alerts are available in English and Spanish. OUC’s Outage Map is also a great resource for information.
• Visit OUC.com/StormCenter. This website resource provides customers with important safety tips for before, during and after severe weather occurs.
• Stock up and prepare your storm action plan. Stock up on storm supplies and ensure you have a storm action plan for your home, family and pets. The second Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday runs through Friday, Sept. 8. For a full list of tax-free items, click here.
