Solar Thermal Rebate Program - Residential
OUC offers residential electric customers a rebate of $900. If using an OUC Preferred Solar Contractor, the OUC Preferred Contractor provides the customer with the OUC Solar Thermal rebate at the point-of-sale, and submits an application to OUC for reimbursement. If using an non OUC Preferred Solar Contractor, the customer submits the required paperwork to OUC. The rebate will be applied to the OUC account pending all requirements are met. Pool heating systems are not included in the program.
Solar PV System Battery Incentive - Residential
For a limited time, OUC is offering residential electrical solar PV customers a rebate of $2,000 for a solar battery. Installing a battery with your solar PV system can provide you with a temporary backup source of power in the event of a power outage and reduce the extent to which you are dependent on the grid for electricity. Incentive Requirements: 1. Only OUC solar PV customers qualify. 2. Usable capacity of the battery must be 8 kWh or greater and noted on the specifications. 3. Battery must have at least a 10-year defect warranty. Provide a copy of the manufacturer’s specification, proof of warranty, proof of purchase (must be submitted within six months of purchase), and an invoice (if the battery was installed at the same time as the solar system, the battery price must be itemized separately). Limit one rebate per customer or service address.
Federal Tax Credits
The Energy Policy Act of 2005 (H.R. 6, Sec. 1335) established a 30 percent tax credit for the purchase and installation of solar electric and solar water heating property. An individual can take both a credit for a photovoltaic system and a credit for a solar water heating system. Initially scheduled to expire at the end of 2007, the tax credits were extended through 2018 at 30 percent, then taper off in yearly increments to settle at 10 percent in 2022. Please check with your tax advisor to verify your tax savings prior to the purchase and installation of a solar system.
