Cool/Reflective Roof | $0.12 per sqft.

Prevent heat absorption and lower surface temperature by adding a special roof coating to reflect the sun. This update can help lower your energy bill, especially in the summer.

Before You Get Started

Cool roofs are a great energy-saving solution for commercial buildings. There are 2 basic roof types: sloped and low-sloped (or flat). A low-sloped roof is a roof with a pitch that is less than or equal to 2:12 (9.5 degrees from horizontal). Common cool roof materials include membranes, shingles, coatings, stone/rock, metal, as well as tile.

  1. Learn more about roof types and product types from the Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC) and energy.gov.
  2. Choose which material you’d like for your cool roof, ensuring the solar reflectance value is 0.7 or greater.
  3. Consult with a professional to conduct measurements and assist with installation.

Submitting Your Rebate Application

Be prepared to provide us with the following documents:

  1. A copy of the invoice, which must list the total square footage of material installed, the type of reflective material and the solar reflectance value.
Rebate Requirements & FAQs

Requirements: Solar Reflectance value of roof installed must be 0.7 or greater. All receipts/invoices must be dated and submitted within six (6) months of the date of purchase.

Eligibility: Rebate is available to OUC commercial electric customers. Only reflective material applied to the exterior portion of the roof above the conditioned space will qualify.

Reimbursement: Receive $0.12 back per sq/ft of cool/reflective roof installed. Customers will receive an approval email once the application has been submitted, reviewed and approved by one of our conservation support specialists. Rebate will be paid as a credit on your bill.

Exemptions: Not available to OUC residential electric or water-only customers.
