Stay Ahead of Storms
The best time to prepare for a storm is before hurricane season begins on June 1. Here’s a checklist of things to do before storms strike.
Request Tree Trimming
If you notice a tree interfering with power lines, please contact us immediately. Branches hanging, leaning or touching a wire pose safety and reliability risks and can cause power outages for you and your neighborhood. Don’t wait just before an incoming storm! Debris from the trimming may become dangerous with storm-force winds.
Prep Your Electric Vehicle (EV)
If a storm is on the way, be sure to charge to full capacity. Power outages will most likely limit your ability to charge, which could also limit your ability to evacuate or get supplies.
Once your EV is fully charged, unplug it before the storm to avoid any potential power surge. If possible, and especially if you live in a flood-prone area, find a place where you can move your vehicle to help prevent water damage.
Restock Your Supplies Kit
Storms can move fast, and having a well-stocked supply kit can make a difference in how you and your loved ones handle a crisis. Don’t forget your four-legged family members too!
