Vice President of Marketing & New Products

Luz Aviles is Vice President of Marketing and New Products at Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC—The Reliable One), the 14th largest public power utility in the United States. She is responsible for all internal and external corporate relations, including communications, media relations, customer education, advertising, marketing and community relations, as well as the development of new products that provide new revenue streams to OUC.

Since joining OUC in 1994, Aviles has held several leadership roles, including Vice President of Customer Experience & Sales, Director of Sustainability, a position with authority over conservation and renewables’ efforts, Director of Customer Service, and Manager of Community Relations.

Since 2019, Aviles has served on the Statewide Board of Directors for Prospera, including serving as its chair for two years. She is also a board member of the Orlando Family Stage. Aviles formally served on the Florida Advisory Council on Climate & Energy and was appointed by Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried in 2020. Aviles’ community involvement also includes serving on Prospera’s Technical Advisory Committee, and several other boards, including the Advisory Board of the Florida Solar Energy Center, the Sustainability Advisory Board for Orange County, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando, the National Entrepreneur Center, and the Orlando Day Nursery.

She graduated from the University of Central Florida with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. She also earned a Master of Business Administration from Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College.
