Using Landfill Gas To Power Homes

landfillOn WKMG (CBS), Danny Haddad, Power Plant Engineering Manager, discussed OUC’s plans to increase energy output from methane gas produced by decomposing trash. Beginning in April, OUC will use new technology to extract methane gas from a formerly dormant area of the Orange County landfill and turn the gas into enough energy to power 2,400 homes. Combined with existing projects at Orange County’s landfill and partnerships with other county landfills, OUC creates enough methane gas-generated electricity to power 16,000 homes. See more here.
