Media Invited to Interview Crews Before They Leave Thursday Morning for Lafayette, La.
ORLANDO, Fla. – OUC—The Reliable One is sending lineworkers to Lafayette, La., to assist with power restoration efforts in the wake of Hurricane Laura. The deployment is part of the country’s municipal utility mutual aid network, which was activated as the Category 4 storm headed toward the Texas-Louisiana coastline.
The 12 employees volunteered to help with the storm recovery and do not know how long they will be away for their families. They will continue to observe OUC’s coronavirus precautions, including social distancing, and enhanced safety and sanitization protocols, while on this special duty.
OUC’s storm recovery team includes 11 line technicians ― Spencer Barnes (Crew Supervisor), Jeff Cockcroft, Roy Bloom, Shawn Wall, Ricky Parks, Matt Coakley, Dewey Harvey, Rick Bloom, William Gay, Pat Gullotti and Mitch Coakley ― and a fleet mechanic, Alfred Jones.
