Aspuru_Jan_2017ORLANDO – Jan C. Aspuru, Chief Operating Officer, has been installed on the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando’s Board of Directors (HCCMO). Aspuru will serve a 3-year term on the 25-member board.

“I’m honored to be given this leadership opportunity with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando,” said Aspuru, who has worked at OUC since 1993. “As a member of the chamber’s board I will provide a bridge between the Hispanic business community and OUC, which is an integral stakeholder in the area’s economic development.”

Aspuru brings to the HCCMO’s Board of Directors extensive experience in engineering, maintenance and operations of power generation, and potable water production, among other skills. He was largely involved in the implementation of OUC’s Energy Hedging Program and played a key role in the restructuring of OUC’s generation asset portfolio.

“The addition of Jan gives our board a unique perspective on the government and corporate contract opportunities available for small business owners,” says Gaby Ortigoni, HCCMO President. ”His background helps diversify the voices that guide our organization.”

Aspuru serves on the Heart of Florida United Way and is past chair of Prospera USA (formerly the Hispanic Business Initiative Fund of Florida). He earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Central Florida and a bachelor's in electrical engineering from Northeastern University in Boston.

The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando is the largest business-related organization representing the Hispanic community in Central Florida.
