OUC Crews Working Throughout Night to Restore Power

Aug 14, 2016

Updated at 11:45 a.m. -  83 customers remain out. Tree removal contractors have now finished their work, which allows OUC to access all locations. We expect all customers to be restored by 3:30 p.m today. We sincerely appreciate your patience.

Updated 6:45 a.m.OUC crews and contractors have been working very hard throughout the night to restore power to those affected by last night’s storm. At one point, 13,000 OUC customers were without power. All of the larger primary lines have been repaired and this morning and afternoon we will continue to have work to do where small numbers of customers are still impacted from last night’s storm. We have about 16 such incidents, affecting about 300 customers, where obstacles such as trees are down and debris is in the road making it harder for us to make repairs.

We apologize for any inconvenience these outages have caused and are working to restore your power as quickly and safely as possible.

About OUC—The Reliable One

Established in 1923 by a special act of the Florida Legislature, OUC—The Reliable One is the second largest municipal utility in Florida and 14th largest municipal in the country. OUC provides electric, water, chilled water and/or lighting services to 240,000 customers in Orlando, St. Cloud and parts of unincorporated Orange and Osceola counties. According to data provided by the Florida Public Service Commission, OUC has been more reliable than the state’s investor-owned utilities for 17 years running. OUC is focused not just on reliability and affordability, but weaves sustainability into everything it does. This includes opening the area’s first community solar farm, installing nearly 150 electric vehicle charging stations, implementing a comprehensive corporate recycling program and encouraging its customers to use energy and water as wisely as possible.
