HURRICANE IAN – OUC MEDIA ADVISORY

Sep 29, 2022

SEPTEMBER 29, 2022 – ORLANDO, FL – As of 2:45 p.m., Thursday, September 29, there are

65,243 customers without power in Orlando and 5,762 in St. Cloud, about 26% of OUC’s service territory. Customers experiencing an outage can report it by calling 407-423-9018.

A water main at the Misty Oaks Apartment Complex, 744 Springwest Road, is being replaced and a precautionary boil water alert will be issued for 36 residents. OUC crews on scene have provided bottled water to impacted residents.

OUC is committed to and focused on the quick and safe restoration of power to our service area. Nearly 300 OUC and mutual aid crew members are preparing to help restore power today and tomorrow – nearly 100 of them are working now when it is safe to do so. Our Storm Assessors are actively evaluating our system and will continue to do so while conditions remain safe.

Crews are assessing damage and restoring power with a focus first on critical customers such as hospitals, wastewater plants, fire, police stations and other emergency locations. Next, repairs will be made to main distribution lines that will restore power to the largest number of customers in the quickest manner possible. A system-wide Estimated Time of Restoration (ETR) will not be available until Friday or early Saturday at the latest.
