CHRIS BROWDER APPOINTED OUC GENERAL COUNSEL
Browder Brings Wealth of Experience Representing Utilities to OUC Post

ORLANDO – The OUC Board appointed Chris Browder General Counsel on Tuesday. Browder, formerly of the law firm Gray Robinson, joined OUC as Vice President of Legal Affairs last month.

“OUC is one of the best run municipal utilities in the southeastern United States, and I am happy to have the opportunity to be a part of the OUC team,” said Browder, who succeeds Thomas Tart who has served as OUC General Counsel since 1986. Tart will now serve as Vice President of Government and Regulatory Relations for OUC.

Browder is responsible for representing OUC in all legal matters affecting the organization’s operation; advising Commissioners and General Manager/CEO on legal issues; planning, organizing and managing operations of the Legal Affairs Department; providing strategic services for projects and proposals covering all areas of the organization; and keeping abreast of legal changes in federal, state and local regulations, requirements and procedures related to OUC’s utility operations.

“Chris Browder is an incredible addition to the OUC team,” OUC General Manager and CEO Ken Ksionek said. “Chris brings a wealth of utilities and regulatory experience with him that will be an enormous benefit to OUC and our customers.”

Browder is a Martindale-Hubbell “AV” Rated Attorney with 17 years of experience representing regulated and governmental utilities and utility regulatory agencies. He also has extensive experience working with international utility equipment manufacturers, turnkey contractors for utility plant construction and general representation of local governments. He has served as one of OUC’s key legal partners on issues such as the sale of the Indian River Power Plant and the partnerships with Southern Company.

Browder earned his Juris Doctorate at the University of Richmond, T. C. Williams School of Law. He has a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Master of Arts in Urban/Regional Planning from the University of Florida.

Established in 1923 by a special act of the Florida Legislature, OUC—The Reliable One is the second largest municipal utility in Florida. OUC provides electric and water services to more than 254,000 customers in Orlando, St. Cloud and parts of unincorporated Orange and Osceola counties.
