‘11th HOUR’ AT LAKE EOLA THIS SATURDAY
Renewable Energy
Expo to Show DiCaprio Documentary at 7:30 p.m.
ORLANDO – ORLANDO – A free
special screening of Leonardo DiCaprio’s acclaimed environmental film, The
11th Hour, will highlight a day of events Saturday at the 2007 Florida
Renewable Energy Expo at Lake Eola. The documentary will be shown at 7:30
p.m. at Lake Eola Park Amphitheater. Seating is on a first-come basis.
The screening of the 2007 feature film caps a day of music and renewable
energy demonstrations at Lake Eola and closes out the Expo, a two-day event
sponsored by OUC—The Reliable One that focuses on sustainable
solutions for our community.
Saturday also features indoor and outdoor exhibits between Lake Eola Park
and Embassy Suites demonstrating innovative renewable energy technologies,
such as solar water heaters, photovoltaic systems and alternative fuel
vehicles powered by hydrogen, ethanol, biodiesel and electricity. All events
are free and open to the public.
Discussion sessions on How to Save Money While Saving Your Planet, Financial
Incentives for Going Green, Estimating Your Solar Potential and more will be
held throughout the day at Embassy Suites.
The 11th Hour examines the impact mankind has had on the earth’s ecosystems
and offers potential solutions to the problems of global warming, mass
extinction and the depletion of ocean habitats.
DiCaprio produced and narrated the documentary, which also features
contributions by former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev, physicist Stephen
Hawking, Nobel Prize winner Wangari Maathai and journalist Paul Hawken.
Established in 1923 by a special act of the Florida Legislature, OUC—The
Reliable One is the second largest municipal utility in Florida. OUC
provides electric and water services to more than 200,000 customers in
Orlando, St. Cloud and parts of unincorporated Orange and Osceola counties. |
