OUC Personnel, Contractors Ready as Ernesto Approaches Central Florida

ORLANDO - OUC-The Reliable One is completing final preparations in advance of Tropical Depression Ernesto and will have personnel and outside contractors ready to respond safely and quickly following the storm.

Support crews began arriving today, and more will arrive Wednesday to be on hand in the event Tropical Depression Ernesto causes outages. OUC also will be ready to send electric and water crews, as needed, to other areas affected by the storm.

OUC urges residents to review hurricane plans, make final preparations and to pay close attention to the storm’s track. For important storm preparation and recovery information or to track the storm, visit OUC’s online Storm Center.

The site features information about generator safety, tree trimming, power generation and restoration priorities and includes links to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) site. The Storm Center also offers the OUC Hurricane Guide and storm preparedness audio tips that are downloadable to any MP3 player.

Established in 1923 by a special act of the Florida Legislature, OUC
—The Reliable One is the second largest municipal utility in Florida. OUC provides electric and water services to more than 196,000 customers in Orlando, St. Cloud and parts of unincorporated Orange and Osceola counties.
