OUC Completes Hurricane Jeanne Restoration

ORLANDO - OUC has restored power to all 110,000 customers who lost service as a result of Hurricane Jeanne over the weekend.

If customers did not report an outage and are still without power, they should call 407.823.9150 with their account or phone numbers ready.

The massive restoration task was completed two days ahead of OUC's original Friday night estimate thanks to the outstanding efforts of OUC's employees and the more than 300 linemen and trouble technicians who came to help from around the country.

Measured on an outage basis, Hurricane Jeanne was worse than Hurricane Frances (75,000 customers out), but not as destructive as Charley (150,000).

As Hurricane Jeanne moved away from Central Florida Sunday, OUC crews responded quickly, restoring service to more than 75,000 in the first 24 hours. With everyone who can receive power now back on, crews will focus on restoring electric distribution system reliability to pre-storm levels.

OUC thanks its customers for their understanding and patience as we all recovered from an unprecedented third hurricane this season.

Established in 1923 and owned by the citizens of Orlando, OUC—The Reliable One provides electric and water services to more than 190,000 customers in Orlando, St. Cloud and parts of unincorporated Orange and Osceola counties. OUC is the second-largest public power utility in Florida.
