Katie Porta Joins OUC Board

Orlando (May 13, 2003) – Katie Porta, a leader in Orlando's nonprofit community, has been elected to serve a four-year term on the governing board of OUC—The Reliable One.

For more than 20 years Porta has served as president and CEO of Quest Inc., which provides services to the developmentally disabled. Quest is one of Central Florida's oldest and largest nonprofit organizations.

"Katie's experience and leadership abilities will be great assets to our half-billion-dollar energy and water business," says Tico Perez, president of OUC's governing board. "She is a strategic, creative thinker who thrives on challenges and who is focused on results."

Porta succeeds Dr. Carol Wilson on the five-seat OUC board. Wilson recently completed 10 years of board service. Porta joined Perez and other fellow OUC board members — Tommy Boroughs (First Vice President), Lonnie Bell (Second Vice President) and Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer — at the Commission's regular monthly meeting on May 13, 2003.

In addition to her work at Quest, Porta has served on the boards of the Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce, the United Way of Florida and the Heart of Florida United Way. She is a graduate of Leadership Orlando, Leadership Central Florida, Leadership Florida and Leadership USA.

OUC—The Reliable One lives up to its name by providing the best record of electric reliability in the state of Florida and delivering high-quality, great-tasting drinking water to its customers. Established in 1923 and owned by the citizens of Orlando, OUC serves more than 190,000 customers in Orlando, St. Cloud and parts of unincorporated Orange and Osceola counties.
