OUC Wins 6 Awards For Outstanding PR Efforts
Utility recognized for print materials, CD-ROM, Web site, campaign

Orlando (April 25, 2003) – OUC—The Reliable One took home six awards from the annual Image Awards competition conducted by the Orlando Area Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA).

The utility won four Image Awards — the top award presented in each category — for its 2002 Annual Report, 2002 Water Quality Report, a CD-ROM presentation and its "The Reliable One" PR campaign. The utility also won an Award of Distinction for its Web site and a Judges Award for its 2002 Water Quality Report.

The awards recognize OUC's ongoing efforts to communicate effectively with customers, media, business partners and the entire Central Florida community. "It is always gratifying to be recognized for the quality of our work, especially from our peers in the public relations field," says Roseann Harrington, vice president of marketing, communications and community relations at OUC.

OUC's Winning Entries

  • With its 2002 Annual Report, OUC set out to produce an eye-catching document that clearly illustrated the utility's commitment to delivering reliable, competitively priced service. The report more than delivered on its promise, as measured by online survey responses and input from key customers and business leaders.   • With its messages of drinking-water safety and conservation, OUC's 2002 Water Quality Report helped improve perception of OUC water in several key ways. Follow-up research showed higher levels of overall customer satisfaction plus improved perceptions of water-service value. To download a copy in Adobe Acrobat PDF format, click here.
     
  • To help OUC's Corporate Services unit introduce its various services to potential business partners, OUC's communications staff developed an interactive CD-ROM "business card" for the unit. The CD delivers useful information in a fun, non-traditional format.
     
  • To boost positive customer perception of OUC, the utility planned and implemented a yearlong PR campaign to strengthen its brand as "The Reliable One" while combating similar messages from a much larger, neighboring utility. The campaign led to the utility's best-ever customer opinion results.
     
  • Since 1998, hundreds of customers have used OUC's Web site (www.ouc.com) monthly to initiate, transfer or stop service. When the customer service department was ready to expand its online offerings, it turned to OUC's communications staff for design and launch support. PR efforts included online surveys, focus groups and internal/external communications.
