Florida Utilities Group Honors OUC
For Community Outreach Success

ORLANDO  – OUC—The Reliable One has won the Florida Municipal Electric Association's Community Service Award for enriching Central Florida in the areas of education, the environment, charitable donations and other community outreach.

OUC received the award in FMEA's large utility category, which applies to public power systems serving more than 50,000 customers.

"We strive to be the best when it comes to providing electricity and water, and we approach community service in the same way," says Bob Haven, OUC's general manager and CEO. "This award from FMEA is the result of OUC employees going above and beyond the call of duty."

FMEA recognized OUC for more than 30 of the utility's programs, including its charitable support of local health and human service agencies, its comprehensive tree-care management program, its hurricane preparedness materials for the public and its energy-efficiency rebate programs for customers.

Based in Tallahassee, the Florida Municipal Electric Association represents the unified interests of 32 public power communities across the state, which provide electricity to more than 2 million of Florida's residential and business consumers.

OUC—The Reliable One lives up to its name by providing the best record of electric reliability in the state of Florida and delivering high-quality, great-tasting drinking water to its customers. Established in 1923 and owned by the citizens of Orlando, OUC serves more than 190,000 customers in Orlando, St. Cloud and parts of unincorporated Orange and Osceola counties.
