Rising Fuel Prices Lead
To Electric Rate Adjustment

Rising fuel prices have affected the cost of power generation and, as a result, the rates that electric utilities must charge their customers. Due to continued rising fuel prices, OUC is adjusting the fuel-charge portion of electric rates.

The adjustment will result in an average 4.5 percent increase in monthly electric bills for residential customers and small commercial (General Service Non-Demand) customers. The adjustment will result in a 4 percent to 6 percent increase in monthly electric bills for other commercial customers. Monthly customer charges and base energy charges are not changing.

The rates will become effective with bills rendered on or after May 1, 2001, pending review by the Florida Public Service Commission.
