Hybrid cars get excellent mileage and use about one-third of the gas of a conventional car. Hybrid cars recharge their batteries while you drive so they don't need to be plugged in. The battery pack contains 38 modules that can be replaced individually as they wear. Air emissions are reduced because the car runs on batteries while accelerating. Electric cars run more quietly and produce fewer emissions than cars that run on gasoline. Hybrid cars do not depreciate in value as quickly as most gasoline-powered cars and have a higher resale value. The U.S. government offers tax incentives for the purchase of hybrids.
