Solar Programs

Welcome to OUC's Solar Programs

Thank you for your interest in Orlando Utilities Commission’s Solar Programs. OUC has two solar programs: A Solar Photovoltaic (PV) program and a Solar Thermal program. A Solar Photovoltaic (PV) system generates electricity, and a Solar Thermal system generates heat for domestic water heating systems.

Participation in OUC's Solar PV production credit program is fully subscribed and no longer available. Please see the new Solar Aggregation Program.

OUC’s Residential Solar Hot Water Rebate

OUC offers residential electric customers a rebate of $900. Pool heating systems are not included in the program.

For Residential Customers: How do the programs work?

Solar PV Program - The customer installs a Solar PV system on his or her home using a certified solar contractor and submits the required paperwork to OUC. Any excess electricity that is generated by the solar system and not used by the customer is sent back to OUC’s electric grid for which the customer will be credited at the full applicable standard retail rate, this is also known as net metering.

Solar Thermal Program - If using an OUC Preferred Contractor, the customer installs a Solar Thermal system on his or her home. The OUC Preferred Solar Contractor provides the customer with the OUC Solar Thermal rebate at the point-of-sale, and submits an application to OUC for reimbursement. If using a non OUC Preferred Contractor, the customer submits the required paperwork from their myOUC Online Profile at www.ouc.com/myouc/orlando-customers. The rebate will be applied to the OUC account pending all requirements are met.

OUC verification of all Solar systems is required for participation in OUC’s solar programs.

For Businesses: How does the program work?

Solar PV Program - The customer installs a Solar PV system on their business using a certified solar contractor and submits the required paperwork to OUC. Any excess electricity that is generated by the solar system and not used by the customer is sent back to OUC’s electric grid for which the customer will be credited at the full applicable standard retail rate, this is also known as net metering.

OUC verification of all Solar systems is required for participation in OUC’s solar programs.
