OUC's Project Care
What Is Project Care?
OUC's Project Care is about people caring for people, neighbors helping neighbors. This time of year can be especially difficult for families struggling to make ends meet. But with your support, Project Care can help by providing emergency assistance to those in our community who have experienced a recent personal or family crisis that has placed them in danger of losing their utility service.
Project Care raises thousands of dollars each year through customer donations, an amount that is matched by OUC. Since its inception in December of 1994, Project Care has raised more than $1 million, helping thousands of families and individuals. With your help, this program will continue to help our neighbors in need.
Won't you please help? Simply print our online form, enter your account information and the amount of your gift. Just include it with your OUC bill and we will do the rest. For every $1 you donate, OUC will contribute $2 to the program.
And thank you for your continued support of this important local effort.
How Do Customers Apply For Project Care Assistance?
All funds for the program are collected by OUC and turned over to United Way 2-1-1, a local, non-profit community assistance agency. OUC customers who need assistance should call United Way 2-1-1 at 2-1-1. United Way 2-1-1 will then help the customer locate an agency near their home so that eligibility and need may be determined.
How Much Can Customers Receive Through Project Care?
A household may receive a maximum benefit of $500 in a one-year period. It is not the intent of the program to pay chronic or long-term debt, but to assist those experiencing temporary financial hardship.
