2009 OUC Downtown Orlando Triathlon
Each September the annual OUC Downtown Orlando Triathlon races through “The City Beautiful”. The format offers an Age Group Race (1/4-mile swim, 11.7-mile bike and 3.9-mile run) and popular relay component where teams of weekend warriors can swim, bike and run in this multi-sport race. The swim is at Lake Underhill, and the bike and run weaves through downtown before finishing at festive Wall Street Plaza.
The Team Relay Race is a fun way to test the triathlon waters since it is designed for the recreational swimmer, cyclist and runner. With three people per team, the swimmer swims a 1/4 of a mile, the cyclist bikes 11.7 miles and the runner finishes up with a 3.9-mile road race. Proceeds from the Team Relay registration benefit the YMCA Youth Scholarship Fund.
Spectators are invited to cheer on the racers and join in the celebration at the finish line. Admission is free. Competitors enjoy free athlete hospitality, live music and more.
