OUC Controlled Burn

OUC-The Reliable One is preparing to begin controlled burns of vegetation at our Stanton Energy Center, which is located near your neighborhood. The burns are required by regulatory agencies and are designed to maintain the essential habitat required for the survival of the Red Cockaded Woodpecker, an endangered species that has made its home on the Stanton property.

These burns, which are needed every few years, also help reduce the danger of wildfires.

The controlled burns will be performed on a day-to-day basis, weather permitting. Burning generally will take place between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. The entire project should be completed in four to six weeks.

Please be assured that OUC is taking all necessary safety precautions to ensure a successful and controlled burn operation.

If you have any questions about this project, please call OUC at 407.423.9018.

Established in 1923 by a special act of the Florida Legislature, OUC—The Reliable One is the second largest municipal utility in Florida. OUC provides electric and water services to more than 196,000 customers in Orlando, St. Cloud and parts of unincorporated Orange and Osceola counties.
