$13.90
to $21.55 per hour
This is a Commercial
Motor Vehicle (CMV) safety-sensitive position under the Department of
Transportation (DOT) CMV Drug-Free Workplace Act and is subject to
post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, periodic and pre-employment
alcohol/controlled substance testing. For additional information about safety
sensitive drug testing, see OUC’s alcohol/substance abuse policy, which is
intended to comply with the DOT Drug-Free Workplace Act.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent education preferred.
Requirements
Must have a minimum of three (3) years mechanical experience in related
automotive and equipment repair and general maintenance, and must be able to
demonstrate proficiency through successful completion of a written assessment on
automotive troubleshooting and repair. Must have good working knowledge of
gasoline and diesel engines and their related components. Must have a good
working knowledge of hydraulic systems and their related components. Must be
able to demonstrate basic welding ability through hands-on proficiency test.
Must provide own set of mechanic's tools and box. Must be able to operate
forklift equipment. Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, service truck bodies
and aerial tower units for inspection, fueling, painting and repairs. Able to
lift objects up to 40 pounds. Attendance record will be a consideration in the
selection process.
Basic Job Duties
Transport fleet vehicles and equipment. Preventive
maintenance on vehicles/equipment. Passenger car, truck and equipment tire
repair. Mechanical repairs to gasoline and diesel engines. General repairs to
electrical systems. Use of diagnostic testing equipment. Fueling and washing of
vehicles. Mechanical repairs to air and hydraulic brake systems. Hydraulic
repairs to vehicle/equipment. Air conditioning troubleshooting, servicing and
repair. Small engine servicing and repair. General welding and minor
fabrication. Perform basic paint and body repair. Perform in-house training and
ASE certification requirements. Perform other related duties as assigned.
