What does an infrared inspection do?

All electrical equipment and processes have patterns of hot and cold which radiate thermal energy. This energy can be detected through a process called "infrared thermography."

Using this technique, OUC's Infrared Inspections measure temperatures of objects such as electric wires, breakers and other electrical equipment components — and transfer that information into actual images.  By revealing potential problem areas and "hot spots" that are invisible to the naked eye, these thermal images give business owners the information they need in order to make corrective repairs — including the replacement of faulty equipment. This, in turn, helps prevent costly breakdowns and power failures.

Following each inspection, our commercial customers receive a detailed analysis and written report. When anomalies are detected, true RMS amperage measurements are also included to help identify the probable cause.  The report also includes a complete description of suggested diagnostic recommendations.  OUC will provide on-going consultations and inspections at the customer's request.
