OUC's Project CARE

What Is Project CARE?
Project CARE is about people caring for people... neighbors helping neighbors. OUC's Project CARE provides emergency assistance to those in our community who have experienced a recent personal or family crisis that has placed them in danger of losing their utility service.

The program raises thousands of dollars each year through customer donations — an amount that is matched by OUC. Since its inception in December of 1994, Project CARE has raised more than $900,000, helping thousands of families and individuals. And, because of your future generosity, this program will continue to help your neighbors in need.

How Do Customers Apply For Project CARE Assistance?
All funds for the program are collected by OUC and turned over to 2-1-1 Community Resources, a local, non-profit community assistance agency. OUC customers who need assistance should call 2-1-1 Community Resources at 2-1-1. 2-1-1 Community Resources will then help the customer locate an agency near their home so that eligibility and need may be determined.

How Much Can Customers Receive Through Project CARE?
A household may receive a maximum benefit of $300 in a one year period. It is not the intent of the program to pay chronic or long-term debt, but to assist those experiencing temporary financial hardship.

How Can I Contribute To Project CARE?
Simply print the enrollment form below and check off the box next to the amount you wish to donate. You may add $1, $2, $5, or a specified amount to your monthly bill. Or, you may elect to have your monthly bill rounded up to the nearest whole dollar. One time donations can be made directly to the Community Services Network. Once the enrollment form has been filled out, simply mail it in with your next bill.
