OUC & Our Community
Cheers to volunteers.
OUC employees have donated more than 55,000 hours and $200,000 to 180 community
organizations since 1993.
The benefit of our experience.
Among the many organizations that have benefited from our volunteer efforts
are: Easter Seals, Orlando Humane Society, Second Harvest Food Bank, March of
Dimes, Seniors First (Meals on Wheels), Juvenile Diabetes, CrimeLine, Junior
Achievement, UCF Shakespeare Festival and more.
Time to teach.
A number of OUC employees give up their lunch hour to teach economics and
other business-related subjects to students through the Junior Achievement
program. OUC also sponsors JA’s "Our City" program, which provides
economic education to elementary students.
And the award goes to.
OUC is a major sponsor of the annual Osceola County Academy Awards of Education,
honoring outstanding teachers. The event provides an opportunity for the school
district and business community to join together to recognize the special
contributions of Osceola County’s teachers. Each year, OUC presents the
"Teacher of the Year" award to one of the county’s most outstanding
educators.
It takes a village.
OUC was the first business partner to support the Children’s Safety Village, a
joint collaboration among the City of Orlando, the Orange County Sheriff’s
Office and the Orlando Police Department. This child-sized city teaches various
aspects of safety—including street safety, bike safety, water safety, electric
safety, poisonous plants and street danger. OUC installed a mini-electric
substation in the Village, which is used to teach about electric safety and
power lines.
