Storm events can cause damage that will prevent your power from being restored even though OUC has made all the necessary repairs to circuits in your area. Be sure to:

Circuit Breaker Check Circuit Breakers

Find the breaker panel in your home and turn off every breaker. Then, reset the main breaker, which may be located outside near your electric meter. Return to the breaker panel inside your home and turn each breaker back to the on position.

Weatherhead Check Your Weatherhead

If you are without power, your weatherhead or meter base may have been damaged. It is the homeowners responsibility to have a licensed electrician perform these repairs. To learn more about this type of damage and your responsibility, click here.

Generator Be Safe Around Generators

Portable generators can produce high levels of carbon monoxide. if not used properly, they can cause carbon monoxide poisoning, electric shock or fire. Review our generator safety tips to keep you and your family safe this season.

Flooding Electrical Safety and Flooding

It's important to remember that electricity and water are a dangerous combination. Avoid standing water as it could potentially be energized with electrical current from downed powerlines and other electrical equipment. If your home is impacted by flooding following a storm please take extreme caution and notify OUC immediately.
